Spirulina Monster Bites

 

For all you sweet-tooth ghouls out there, here is a super simple, seedy, rich and protein-packed raw snack! The nutrient-dense algae, Spirulina gives them that vibrant monster green color that not only makes them a little spooky but also has powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. The oats, seeds, nibs, and protein powder also make these tiny bites a textured and satisfying treat that is perfect post workout or in-between meals!

Spirulina Monster Bites

Instructions:

First.. add the below ingredients to a blender and blend until a course crumbly texture remains. Set aside.

Ingredients:

1 cup oats

1/4 cup pepitas

5 medjool dates

1/2 tsp cinnamon

pinch of salt

Next.. add the following remaining ingredients to a large bowl and stir until a thick paste remains. Add in you date and oat mixture and stir or use your hands to evenly incorporate the two mixtures together.

-1/4 cup peanut butter

-1/4 cup agave

-1/4 cup protein powder (I used Nutiva hemp protein powder)

-2 tsp spirulina

Lastly.. throw in your seeds and cacao nibs and combine once more. Firmly press your mixture into a lined 9x5 or 8x8 baking tin. *I used a 9x5 tin to make them extra thick, but either size works just fine! freeze for at least 1 hour then Cut into square or bite size cubes. Enjoy!!

-2 tbsp seeds (I used 1 tbsp hempseeds and 1 tbsp chia seeds)

-2 tbsp cacao nibs
